OBA retail chain intends to introduce new eco-fabric bags in the near future.
As previously reported, there have been cases where plastic materials have been sold or delivered to consumers at service facilities. As a result, neither buyers nor sellers adhere to market law. Plastic bags are now free in markets, so people even take products home in a few cellophane bags.
We have sent an information request to the retail chain on the issue.
OBA retail chain complied with the "Action Plan for 2019-2020 on "Reducing the Environmental Impact of Plastic Packaging Waste in Azerbaijan" dated February 7, 2019, and thus the sale of disposable plastic mixing rods, forks, knives, plates, and glasses has been suspended since July 1.
Fazilat Samadova, head of the Marketing Communications Department in OBA retail chain, informed Bakuvaxti.az about it.
He stated that OBA retail chain complies with the law, which was brought into effect on January 1: "The law prohibits the use of polyethylene bags with a thickness of up to 15 microns." Currently, all polyethylene bags sold or used in our markets are thicker than 15 microns. " As OBA retail chain, we believe that the use of polyethylene bags is generally harmful to the environment and that their use should be discontinued."
According to Fazilat Samadova, OBA retail chain, like other companies, loses a lot of money in the production of plastic bags: "In addition, such polyethylene bags cause great damage to nature because they are not recycled." With this in mind, OBA retail chain is planning to launch new eco-fabric bags.
Our customers will be able to reduce waste in the environment while also making long-term purchases with more durable packages by using these packages. These packages are planned to go on sale in October. Because our eco bags are inexpensive, they are suitable for all budgets. As part of various campaigns, we will even provide free eco shopping packages to our customers. We encourage our customers to use environmentally friendly bags. Our campaign's goal is to change people's shopping experiences while also promoting environmental protection.
It is also expected that OBA retail chain will sign several more projects to protect the environment in the near future.
